Psycho-social session in Skënderaj

A psycho-social workshop was organized in Skënderaj/Srbica as part of the project “Promoting a Human Rights-Based Approach to Transitional Justice” supported by UNMIK.

The workshop brought together 18 participants, all family members of missing persons, to learn strategies for coping with grief and managing daily challenges. Recognizing the profound emotional toll that the unresolved fate of their loved ones has on their mental well-being, the session aimed to provide both psychological support and practical tools for healing. The workshop was led by Ms. Fatmire Shala Kastrati, a seasoned clinical psychologist specializing in supporting families of missing persons through her work at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, introduced participants to practical therapeutic methods specifically tailored to address their unique needs. These simple yet effective techniques included guided breathing exercises, mindfulness practices, all of which are designed to help participants manage emotional stress, reduce anxiety, and incorporate resilience-building practices into their daily routines.

This initiative highlighted the importance of adopting a human rights-based approach to transitional justice, where the needs and voices of families are prioritized.
