The third psychosocial session was held in Štrpce within the framework of the UNMIK-supported project “Promoting a Human Rights-Based Approach to Transitional Justice”. The session brought together 18 participants, all family members of missing persons, who had the opportunity to learn useful strategies for coping with grief and managing daily challenges. Considering the profound emotional impact of uncertainty about the fate of their loved ones, the session was designed to provide psychological support and practical tools to aid in the healing process. The workshop was led by Mrs. Fatmire Shala Kastrati, an experienced clinical psychologist specializing in supporting families of missing persons through her work at the Institute of Forensic Medicine. During the session, Mrs. Kastrati presented a range of therapeutic techniques specifically tailored to the unique needs of the participants. These techniques included guided breathing exercises for emotional calm, mindfulness practices for managing anxiety and stress, and strategies for building emotional resilience to face daily challenges. Through this session, participants had the opportunity to learn practical tools that they can integrate into their daily lives to alleviate pain and strengthen their mental well-being. This activity emphasized the importance of a human rights-based approach to transitional justice, putting the needs and voices of the families of missing persons at the center. Psychological support is essential in this difficult journey, and we remain committed to standing by these families every step of the way towards healing and justice.
